Benjamin Sachwitz.
I underwrite commercial trucking and logging risk at Swamp Fox Agency, just outside Charleston, SC. I gravitate toward the tough accounts the standard markets pass on, the ones that take real digging to understand and structure well. I work hard, I try to do right by the people I deal with, and I am always building small tools on the side to make the job smoother.
The accounts others pass on
The trucking and logging accounts most markets decline. I dig into the safety data, the operations, and the story behind each one, the way I learned to on the Lloyd's floor in London.
Little tools that save real time
On the side I build small rating aids and calculators that take the busywork out of the day. Nothing flashy, just things that genuinely make the job easier.
Do right by producers
I care about the long game with the agents I work with. Learn what they actually need, be straight with them, and put together deals that still make sense at renewal.
DC raised. USC built.
Lloyd's trained.
Self-taught. Native focused.
Shipped to the App Store.
I underwrite commercial trucking and logging risk across the Southeast. These are accounts you can't judge from a spreadsheet alone, so I put in the time on the safety data and the operations to really understand each one.
During my training at Price Forbes on the Lloyd's of London floor, I saw how complex cargo and property risks are placed in the world’s oldest specialty room. Today, I use that experience to underwrite durable risks at Swamp Fox Agency.
I build software that turns fiddly, annoying workflows into something clean and reliable. Native iOS apps in Swift, full-stack React sites, whatever the problem needs. I try to write code that's easy to come back to and quietly does its job.
Coming at it from a business and risk background makes me build a little differently. I care about getting the data right, keeping the screen uncluttered, and not overcomplicating things.
From McLean youth sports to the Darla Moore School of Business, most of what I've done has come with real pressure attached. Running logistics at Augusta National during the Masters, supporting federal accounts at Carahsoft, learning the specialty cargo market in London: every one of them taught me to sweat the details, stay steady when it counts, and just be straight with people. I bring all of that to Swamp Fox.
Everything I know about code, I taught myself. It started with little scripts to skip the manual data entry, and grew into full mobile apps and a few white-label web templates. What I love is taking a messy problem, like running fraternity recruitment or keeping a golf scorecard straight, and building a clean tool that just handles it, even offline.
The journey.

It's the little things
that set us apart.
Show up, do the homework, and care about the small stuff nobody else bothers with. That's usually the whole difference, whether it's an account or an app.
From DC to the Lloyd's Room.
What I bring.
Three disciplines, one operating system. Specialty insurance, applied technology, and deal-making, the toolkit I bring to every account.
Building high-performance utilities and scalable web apps. Mobile design, serverless backends, and AI workflows, the tools I use to build daily.
Insurance & Risk
Specialty P&C underwriting, mostly trucking and logging. I spend my time in the loss data, the compliance side, and figuring out where an account really sits in the market before I put a number on it.
Technology & AI
I build the tools I wish underwriting already had. Two apps on the App Store and a handful of rating calculators I use day to day, put together with Swift, a bit of Vercel serverless, and a lot of trial and error.
Business & Sales
BizDev and federal sales background. Proven ability to qualify leads, negotiate complex terms, and build producer-level client relationships. Strategic mindset for agency growth and market expansion.
Mobile & iOS
Native iOS development with Swift and SwiftUI. Focus on clean architecture, local data caching, responsive layouts, and shipping optimized mobile utilities directly to the App Store.
Web & Serverless
Full-stack web engineering using React, Next.js, and TypeScript. Building lightweight SaaS platforms, white-label client tools, and secure database layers with Supabase and Prisma.
AI & Automation
This is where I spend my nights and weekends, honestly for the fun of it. Wiring up LLM workflows, writing little scripts and parsers, and building custom integrations that take the repetitive parts of coding off my hands.
Selected work.
Professional milestones that shaped my career, including support operations at Augusta National, brand building, Lloyd's placement training, and client consulting.
The Masters · Augusta National.
Two-year returning operations staff at one of the world's most prestigious sporting events. Learned how precision, discretion, and relentless standards get executed at scale, a blueprint for how I handle high-stakes accounts and client relationships today.
500K Instagram Brand, Built & Sold.
Grew an Instagram brand from zero to 500,000+ followers by paying attention to what actually resonated and posting consistently, then sold it outright. I got to learn the whole arc firsthand: growing it, making money from it, and knowing when to walk away.
Trucking & Logging · E&S Placement.
Moving complex commercial trucking and logging risk from intake to bind through Swamp Fox's Excess & Surplus channels, including Lloyd's syndicate access. Building submissions, reading FMCSA & CAB safety records, and pricing accounts the markets actually want to write.
Darla Moore Consulting Capstone.
Led a semester-long student consulting engagement at USC's Darla Moore School of Business. I partnered with a real client, scoped the problem, ran the market and financial analysis, and delivered data-backed recommendations to leadership. Real reps turning ambiguity into a decision deck stakeholders could act on.

Seventy-two completed. None of them filler.

Life outside the desk.
Raised in McLean, Virginia. Commanders Sundays with Dad, Capitals playoff nights, family over everything. Off-hours: golf when the weather holds, building small web tools when it doesn't, and a soft spot for anything with a leaderboard.
